Clone a Marketing Agent in Docket

If you need a second Marketing Agent that starts from the setup of one you already trust, Clone agent creates it in a single step. The copy arrives as a draft with its own script, and the agent you copied keeps running exactly as before.
Cloning is the fastest way to launch an agent for a new campaign, region, or landing page without rebuilding its configuration.
When should you clone an agent instead of editing one?
Clone when the second agent needs to behave differently, not just say something different. Cloning fits well when:
- You want an agent for one event or campaign, pointed at that event's landing page.
- You want a separate agent for a product line, a region, or a language.
- You want to test a change against a copy first, so the agent on your website is unaffected.

What does a clone copy from the original agent?
A clone copies the source agent's full configuration by default. Its instructions and prompt, its persona, and its Interaction Mode always come across, and you cannot leave them out.
The Clone agent window lists the rest of the settings, all selected to begin with. Clear any you do not want in the copy.

The clone also keeps the source agent's version. Cloning an agent that uses Agent Instructions gives you a clone with Agent Instructions, and cloning an agent that uses Prompt Studio gives you a clone with Prompt Studio.
What does a clone not carry over?
A clone starts with no history. Conversations, visitors, and analytics from the source agent are not copied, so the clone's reporting begins at zero.
Two more things start fresh:
- The widget script. The clone has its own agent ID, so it needs its own script on your pages. The source agent's script continues to load the source agent. See Adding the Marketing Agent Script to Your Website.
- Domain verification. Whitelisted domains copy across, but each domain reports We couldn't find the DocketAI Script on your domain until the clone's own script is live there. See Whitelisting Domains for Your Marketing Agent Widget.
How do you clone a Marketing Agent in Docket?
- Open Marketing Agent Configuration from the left sidebar to reach the Agents page, then open the agent you want to copy.
- Select the three-dot menu in the agent header, then select Clone agent.
- Enter a name in Agent name.
- Add a Description so your team can tell the two agents apart.
- Under What this clone includes, clear any setting you do not want in the copy.
- Select Clone agent. Docket creates the draft and returns you to the Agents page.
You can also clone without opening the agent: the three-dot menu on any agent card on the Agents page holds the same Clone agent option.
How do you finish setting up a cloned agent?
The clone opens as a Draft, so nothing reaches your website until you add its script and switch the agent on.
- Open the clone from Marketing Agent Configuration.
- Open the Deploy tab and select Copy Script, then add that script to the pages where you want this agent to appear.
- Switch on the toggle beside the agent name when you are ready to make the clone active.

Frequently asked questions
Does cloning change or take down the original agent?
No. The source agent keeps its configuration, its status, and its history. Cloning only creates a new agent.
Is the cloned agent live as soon as it is created?
No. Every clone is created as a Draft and stays off until you switch it on.
Will the cloned agent appear on my website automatically?
No. The clone has its own agent ID and its own script, so you need to add that script to the pages where you want it. Your existing script keeps loading the source agent.
Why is there no Preview button on my new clone?
Preview appears once an agent is active. A clone arrives as a draft, so switch on the toggle beside its name and Preview appears in the header.
Do I need a separate agent for each language, region, or landing page?
Not always. Use one agent when the pages share a goal and only the content differs. Clone when a page or region needs the agent to behave differently.
Does the clone include the original agent's conversations and analytics?
No. The clone starts with no conversations, no visitors, and no analytics, so its reporting covers only what happens after you switch it on.
Does the clone keep the original agent's prompt history?
No. The clone's prompt arrives as Version 1. The wording matches the source agent, but earlier versions of that prompt are not copied. See Editing Agent Behaviour with Prompt Studio.
What happens if I leave out Work hours?
If the source agent has work hours turned on, Docket asks you to confirm and then leaves out Human handoff as well, because handoff would otherwise run at every hour of the day. If the source agent has work hours turned off, only Work hours is left out.
Can I clone an agent into a different Docket workspace?
No. Clone agent creates the copy in the same workspace as the source agent.
Why do the cloned agent's whitelisted domains show as unverified?
Docket checks each domain for that agent's own script. The clone's domains report We couldn't find the DocketAI Script on your domain until the clone's script is live on those pages, because your site is still loading the source agent's script. See How to Validate a Widget Deployment.
