Understanding Widget Behavior and Access

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Use the Widget tab to control how a Marketing Agent appears on your website, which domains can load it, and when it should engage visitors.

The Widget tab is part of each agent's configuration, so widget behavior can be tailored per agent.

What You Can Configure

The Widget tab includes three main areas:

  • Customize Widget

  • Whitelist Domains

  • Widget Behaviour

Use these sections together before deploying an agent to a website.

Customize Widget

Use Customize Widget to match the visitor-facing widget to your brand and messaging.

The current Widget tab includes controls for:

  • Widget Position

  • Theme

  • Colors

  • Widget Primary Text

  • Widget Default Welcome Text

  • Widget sounds

Review these settings before publishing or sending traffic to the agent.

Whitelist Domains

Use Whitelist Domains to define which domains are allowed to load the agent widget.

Add every production, staging, or campaign domain where the widget should appear. If a domain is not whitelisted, the widget may not load there even if the script is installed.

Widget Behaviour

Use Widget Behaviour to decide where and when the widget should appear.

Common behavior choices include:

  • Showing the widget on all approved pages.

  • Showing the widget only on selected pages.

  • Opening the widget from a custom click or function call.

  • Configuring when a callout should proactively engage the visitor.

Use behavior rules to keep the widget relevant to the page and visitor intent.

Recommended Setup Order

  1. Customize the widget appearance and text.

  2. Add the domains where the widget should run.

  3. Configure widget behavior for those domains.

  4. Preview or test the agent.

  5. Deploy the script only after the widget configuration is ready.

Best Practices

  • Keep widget text short and action-oriented.

  • Whitelist only domains that should run the agent.

  • Use selected-page targeting when an agent is only relevant to specific pages.

  • Use on-click behavior when your website should control when the conversation starts.

  • Test the widget on each domain before treating deployment as complete.
